Media Release: Nipissing Parry Sound CAS Expresses Regret over End to New Round of Union Talks

Jan 19, 2017

NORTH BAY, ON – The Nipissing Parry Sound District Children’s Aid Society (CAS) today expressed regret over the breakdown of mediated talks today with CUPE Local 2049, the union representing CAS staff.

“Today we presented an enhanced package that moved us significantly from our final offer on many items including our critical issue with the Sick Leave Benefit. Additionally, we expressed our continued willingness to negotiate,” said Gisèle Hébert, Executive Director, Nipissing and Parry Sound CAS. “We remain committed to reaching an agreement that is fair to our staff and recognizes the reality of limited funding.”

Hébert added, “We hope that the union will resume working with us toward a negotiated resolution of all outstanding issues, including the key issues of workload and the Sick Leave Benefit, and we remain ready to get back to the table.”
