CAPC 25 Year Anniversary Celebration

Aug 16, 2018

The CAPC program in North Bay just celebrated its 25 year birthday!

Learn more about the celebration.

The Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) is a community-based children’s program that promotes the healthy development of young children (0-6 years).

Since 1993, the Public Health Agency of Canada has funded 415 CAPC projects for vulnerable children and parents/caregivers in over 3,000 communities across Canada.

We are so very proud of our CAPC program, having over the past 25 years, served almost 1,500 families. Child focused health and development activities, parenting skills programs, nutritional support, collective kitchens, physical activity programs, and outreach and home visits for the programming. The success of the program would not be possible without the incredible dedication of our community partners.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Health Unit, where a range of family services are provided, to Linda McLay and her volunteers who have been instrumental in the Infant Food Shelf, as well as the DNSSAB, YES Employment, Yoga, Mental Health Clinicians, food banks, etc.

Programs within the CAPC service also include Mothercare – a national prenatal nutrition program, and the Family Enrichment Program that allows service recipients to gain high school credit.

Everyone’s commitment to wrap around services and programs to assist families in being successful has be unwavering. Congratulations to the CAPC program for 25 years of success!
