Youth in Care
Post Secondary Education
Youth in care are encouraged to pursue post secondary education and are provided support with the application process, applying for OSAP and getting ready for the great experience of post secondary education.
All eligible youth in care receive an RESP started by Society to assist with post-secondary costs. New government initiatives provide all youth with care grants through OSAP to cover tuition and textbooks.
Also, through the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies, YouthCAN (Communication & Advocacy Network) has become a great support for youth in care. They advocate for the needs of our youth and bring our youth together yearly at conferences located on campuses where youth learn about post secondary education opportunities, life skill, ongoing initiatives, and most importantly meet and support other youth in care.
