Adoption Support
Children's Aid Society / La Société d'aide à l'enfance Nipissing Parry Sound

Adoption Support Opportunities:

Nipissing Parry Sound CAS recognizes that everyone benefits when adoptive families are provided support opportunities. We provide these opportunities through various delivery methods to enhance knowledge and develop child-related skills, continuous learning opportunities.

Professional Support:

All adoption families are offered personal support throughout the application process and once approved, families continue to receive ongoing support from a Permanency Worker as well as a child and youth worker if needed. Caregivers also have access to a 24-hour emergency telephone line.

Families may be eligible for financial support when they adopt a child from a Children's Aid Society. This type of support is provided at the discretion of the CAS on a case-by-case basis. It is intended to respond to the needs of the child and the ability of the adoptive parents to cover the costs of meeting those needs.

A provincial commitment encourages the adoption of older children and sibling groups – who are often more difficult to place. Eligible families may receive subsidies to help cover these costs. Eligibility criteria may include:

  • A combined net family income of $93,700 or less
  • Adopt or take legal custody of a Crown ward who is 10 years or older, or
  • Adopt or take legal custody of sibling groups with two or more Crown wards.

Adopting families may receive $1,035 per month or $12,420 annually for each eligible child. All eligible families will receive targeted subsidies until the youth's 21st birthday. Societies will conduct annual reviews to determine if family continues the eligibility requirements. For more information read: Helping Kids In Care Find Permanent Homes.
